Scavenger Hunt Sunday 09.01.13

Hello!  Happy September!  Can you believe it?!  After taking a couple weeks off, I managed to get all the scavenger hunt prompts this week.

Last week my kids started back to school.  You can see our traditional night-before-school-starts-photo-shoot photos here.  And our first-day-of-school photos here.  Also, I have a giveaway going for a good tween/teen book here.  Go check it out!  I also went to the laundromat to wash many loads of clothes since we are still having water problems.  No pictures of that though.  :)  Doug was out of town for work and got home on Friday.  I had meetings, finished a good book, and had a family photo shoot.  And I edited lots of pictures.  I need to get caught up because I have several more sessions coming up this month and don't want to get too far behind!

Now on to the hunt ...

Nick found this huge toad just yesterday.  He wanted to keep him, but I made him let it go.  He set it down in the grass and I snapped a couple pics so Nick could remember him forever.

{shadow}

Okay, more silhouette than shadow, but I love this pic of Keira holding Alex.

{flow}

Alex had a blast this week at a new-to-us pool ... playing in the water flowing from the mushroom-looking fountain.

I know I shared this pic before, but it fit for this prompt.  Nick found several more praying mantises this week.  They have these sharp tips on the ends of their front legs.  Although if you are gentle with them, they won't use them on you. :)

The fish at Pymatuning were beyond anything I could have imagined.  They were cool and gross at the same time.  :)

That's it for me!  I hope you have a great Labor Day weekend!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 08.11.13

I almost didn't participate this week because I've had a headache for a few days now that just won't go away.  Too much Farm Show activity, I guess.  But I managed to get all the prompts, so ...
{family}
family
This small family of fawns (and their mama) have been frequenting our neighbor's pear tree lately.  We have spotted them snacking several times this week alone.

{grass}

After the rain the other day the sun shone brightly.  So I ventured out to capture some sparkles on the wet grass.

{silly}

At the Farm Show this week we met up with a friend of Keira's, Krista.  Krista was nice enough to ride the Tilt-a-Whirl with Nick and Alex.  And they all got silly together while I was taking their picture.

{half}
half
This little toad that Nick found was no bigger than a half an inch long.  He was crawling up Nick's arm while I tried to take his picture.

{bow}
bow
Bow as in cow?  Or bow as in tow?  That was the question this week.  :)  Read on to see which I chose.
Alex got to take a bow this week after winning a second place ribbon in the farm show with his "Marine Train" painting.  This painting took him all of 5 minutes to create a month or so ago.  He made it not even thinking of entering it into the farm show.  But since he did and won a ribbon, he also got a check for $3.00.  Sweet!

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you make this week a great one!

Week 33 Summary

Week-33-Collage
So, my week didn't start out all that great since I broke my camera on Sunday, but it ended pretty well.  We had a pretty good week full of fun stuff.  I'm still bummed about my camera, but I'm very grateful to still have my old camera to use.

Here's my week ... in pictures ...
14 - Photo taken on August 11 at Idlewild.  Doug and I being goofy.  (I didn't take any photos because of the newly broken camera).
15 - Pretty flowers growing by our porch deck.
16 - The kids got to swim at a friend's house.  It was a nice surprise.
17 - Alex had Kindergarten Open House and got to go on his first bus ride.  He was so excited!
18 - Alex playing soccer.  Well, sort of.  It is just for fun.
19 - Doug harvested quite a few vegetables from our garden.

Hope you have a wonderful week!

The boys and I took Honey for a walk today around our neighbor's property.  We ended up going down to the pond.  On the way there and back, we came across lots of interesting things.  Like this tiny baby toad and this huge red mushroom.  Nick thought I should photograph the toad sitting on the mushroom.  So I did.  :)  If only Nick had placed him so that he was facing me.

Week 31 Summary

Week-31-Collage
I sort of feel like I'm running out of steam on my Project 365.  Running out of ideas for photos.  Anyone else feel this way?  Anyway, here's what we have this week ...
31 - Nick found this little tiny toad.
1 - My hibiscus flowers are blooming.
2 - So are my sunflowers.  I mentioned to my husband today that instead of planting corn, etc. in the garden next year, we should just plant a bunch of sunflowers.  They are much prettier, don't you think?  :)
3 - Our 6th Monarch butterfly emerged today ... a female.  That makes 3 males and 3 females so far.  Hoping to find some more caterpillars soon!
4 - We enjoy watching the hummingbirds that frequent our feeder.
5 - Alex checking out the hibiscus.  He said they tickled his nose.  :)
6 - Fire through a hole in the side of our burn barrel.

Nicholas found this tiny toad at our church this evening.  Isn't it sweet?  Well, for a toad.  :)
