2009 ... A look back

I’ve never done a year in review before (even in my scrapbooks!), so I thought it would be fun. It has actually turned into a lot of work, but I’m sure when I look back on it in a few years, I will be glad I put in the time. So here goes …

January
Brought Honey home.
The story … The kids had been bugging asking us to get a dog for a while. Doug told them if they saved up enough money, they could get one, even though he didn’t really want a dog. So they each put all of their money in and had about $200. Unbeknownst to them, I had found a golden retriever puppy through a friend from church. The price? $200. Cool! Why so cheap? Because even though the parent dogs had their papers, the owners couldn’t currently find them, which meant they couldn’t get papers for the pups. I could care less about papers, because the pup was going to be spayed anyway.

The looks on their faces was priceless. I wish I could have gotten a picture of that!

Oh, and by the way, Doug loves Honey. They are pretty much inseparable now! Go figure!

February
The Pittsburgh Steelers won their 6th Superbowl! Go Steelers! [I'm well aware of the crappy season they are having this year, so feel free to not point that out. :)]

March
Doug, my darling husband, turned 41. I really must get him to let me take more pictures of him.

April
Nicholas, my sweet boy, turned 6 with a swim party at the Y. Fun!
Keira played her violin in her first school concert. She was so nervous, but she did great!

May
I went away for a scrapbooking weekend. Oh how I needed that!

Doug bought himself a new bicycle. He and Keira rode together a lot.

We, as a family, visited the Carnegie Museum. Love those dinosaur bones!

June
Nicholas lost his first tooth - on the last day of school!

I ended up in the emergency room with a severe allergic reaction to a prescription. The whole story will come in another post (it is a long story!).

The hunting/trapping/fishing obsession with Nicholas began when he and his Dad trapped a groundhog that kept getting into the garden.

Honey was spayed.

July
Yearly trip to Idlewild.
Pittsburgh Zoo visit.
Our first train ride.

Paid off the van! Woo hoo!

August
Annual trip to the Farm Show

Back to school
I met Laura this month (I think it was this month!) and we became friends rather quickly!

September
Doug’s cousin, Chuck, married Connie in the Redneck wedding of the century. :)
Alex started Preschool - he was less than cooperative when I tried to get a picture of him on his first day, so this is the best I've got. :)Keira, my sweet girl, turned 11.

Bought a new washer after the old one died.

Inspired by my friend, Laura, I started this blog.

October
Annual trip to the Farm Tour

Preschool field trips – fire station and farm.
Finally got siding installed on the house! Woo hoo!

November
Doug and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary! Woo hoo!

My friend, Laura, took took family photos for us.

Christiana was born – November 18.

Keira won an award for a story she wrote.

I turned 40.

Wow! That was a busy year!
