Wild & Wonderful Wednesday #5

Welcome back to Wild & Wonderful Wednesday!  I have a little bit of wild and a little bit of wonderful to share with you this week.  I'll let you decide which you think is which.  :)

Saturday morning Keira and I ventured out to purchase her a brand-spankin' new violin.  On the way home, we stopped at a local conservancy to see what we could see.  These geese were hanging out by the pond.  We were able to get pretty close to them and they never hopped in the water.  Maybe it was too cold?  :)

This is the pond they were sitting by.  Oh how I miss the beautiful colors of autumn already.

Although I did get to see a little color left on our walk on Friday.  These leaves were still hanging on and the light caught my eye.

And our sweet friendly pony was out again.  She just loves people it would seem.  We didn't go pet her this time because there was a huge puddle between us and her.  And no way around it.  :)

Last, I was playing around with photographing Keira's new violin under the Christmas tree.  I pictured in my mind the lights sparkling off of it creating a beautiful glow.  Didn't happen.  So I opted for a different view.  And I shot it in black and white just for kicks, then added a layer of golden brown to make it sepia-ish.  Finally, I added a layer of Kim Klassen's Phoebe texture.  Her theme is Gratitude this week.  I am grateful for many things, one of which is that we had the money set aside to purchase Keira a new violin and return the rental.  She will be playing the new violin until her fingers bleed.  And then a little bit more.  :)

Photo of the Day: November 14

Some days are so busy it is all I can do to get my photo of the day posted.  Today was one of those days.  And looking ahead at this week's calendar, there will not be much down time again.  *sigh*  I'm really longing for simpler days.  It is all good stuff I'm busy with, but I prefer to have some time to just relax and read a book or visit blogs or perhaps watch a movie without feeling guilty about something else I should be doing.  So if I don't visit you or participate in many link ups this week, you'll know why.


Anyway, enough boo hooing.  I took this photo this afternoon while searching outside for something, anything to photograph.  :)  I placed a lone acorn on our picnic table and played around with my macro filter.  Some photos I was really close; some, like this, I zoomed out and left more blank space.  I preferred this shot.  But it needed some texture, so I added two layers of Kim Klassen's Phoebe texture (one with a multiply blend mode and one with a soft light blend mode) and one layer of Aurora (soft light).  Mouse over to see the non-textured version.


And with that, I am going to bed.  Tomorrow is another busy day.

This Gerber daisy is somewhat of a mystery.  It is growing where it was not planted.  And it is still growing despite the few frosty and/or snowy mornings we've had lately.  It is one of the few flowers that is still blooming.  I think that's pretty cool.  :)
