Hello! Welcome to my little piece of the interwebs. I'm glad you stopped by! My page is currently under construction. A work in progress, shall we say. So please excuse the mess. :)

Please let me know you were here by leaving a comment. That way I can return the visit! And if you'd like to grab my blog button, scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 03.16.14

Hello!  Welcome to another Scavenger Hunt Sunday!  We had lots of beautiful sunshine this week.  I even got outside on Tuesday to do some running (actual exercise running - not errand running).  :)  It felt so good to get out and enjoy the warmer weather.  However, Wednesday we had rain which then changed to snow and ice.  Ah, winter in Pennsylvania.  You gotta love getting two different seasons in the same week.  :)

Anyway, you are here for the hunt, so I'll get to it ...

Keira agreed to help me with this prompt, so after doing some shopping, we sought out an interesting doorway downtown.  We found these on a church.

This candid shot of Doug and Alex cracks me up.  They were looking at Alex's eye spy book together.  Doug is hiding from the camera, as usual.  :)

I already mentioned that we have had lots of sunshine lately.  Soon it will be warm enough to open the windows and let the fresh air in.  Yay!

After taking Keira's picture in the church's doorway, I only had to look up to see this steeple.

Alex helped me try a new gluten-free cookie recipe on Saturday.  Once he stuffed a couple in his face :) he gave me a big thumbs up.  They are yummy!

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to stop over and say hello to our gracious host, Ashley!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 07.14.13

Since I have been slowing down on the blogging for the summer, I have also taken a break from the scavenger hunts.  Not really intentionally.  Just kinda worked out that way.  But since I have missed participating, I thought I'd throw together something today.

{relaxing}

This frog was relaxing in the pond while the boys were trying to catch critters.  He never moved the whole time we were there.  I guess he felt safe since he was out of their reach.

My three crazy kids are inspiring to me.  They not only help me strive to be a better mom, they also teach me to loosen up and have more fun!

Alex wrote this note for me a while back.  I have it hanging on my wall by my laptop so I can see it often.

{memories}

Alex invited me to a tea party.  So one evening we sat in the dining room and had iced tea in our "fancy" cups with chocolate chip cookies.  I set up the camera on the tripod to capture our memories.

{best friend}

Alex and Nick have this love/hate relationship going, as I'm sure most brothers their age do.  One minute they are best friends, the next they are trying to kill each other.  I'm not sure which I captured in this photo.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!  Next week's list is sponsored by me, so I better be sure to participate!  :)  And I'd love it if you did too!

Project 52 - Week 20 - The Kids

Last week was another busy week.  However I took some time Thursday evening to take Nick's 10-year pictures. (He turned 10 on April 13, so we're just a little late).  :)  Keira and Alex wanted to come along, so I managed to get a few group shots also.  We just headed downtown to see what we could find as good backdrops.  Lots of churches and brick walls to use.  Perhaps tonight we'll head out to a local park since today's weather is gorgeous!

I shared a few of our fun photos in yesterday's Scavenger Hunt.  I still have more to process, but here are a few more that are already done.  The good ... and the silly.  :)

Nick loves pink.  But, boy, did I have a hard time finding him a pink shirt.  I didn't want one with logos or anything on it and I wanted a collared shirt, but this is the best I could find.  He loves it anyway.  I will keep looking for another one though.  I love how the pink pops against this white wall.

I have no idea what Nick is doing in this picture.  :)

Our library just got done constructing a beautiful garden area with seating.  It is shaded by the building in the evening, so we stopped by to see what backgrounds we could find.

This is, by far, my favorite photo of our session.  My three in front of the graffiti wall.

I bribed them with ice cream in order to get cooperation.  Sometimes it is necessary.  And worth it.  :)

Scavenger Hunt Sunday ~ 05.19.13

Hello!  After disappearing from Blogland for a few days, I'm back for Scavenger Hunt Sunday.  I had another busy week but did manage to take the kids out Thursday evening for a photo shoot and get all the prompts.  We walked around the city to see what we could see.  And then I took them out for ice cream afterwards.  Yes, sometimes I do resort to bribery for photos.  :)

Nick sprained his pinky finger this week playing basketball.  He wanted pictures of his finger in the splint so he did rock-n-roll hands for me.

Alex and Keira got cuddly ... and kissy.  Is kissy a word? :)

{sign}

Not exactly a sign ... more like a graffiti wall for our local cable company.  But I'm still using it.  As you can see, the kids didn't get all their sillies out at the beginning of the evening.  This was one of the last photos I took of them. I think they are pretending to be hiding from a shark or something.

Well, that's it for me.  We are going out this afternoon to enjoy this beautiful day.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great week!

Photo of the Day: October 23

October 23 - Dorks :)
ISO 400, f/7.1, 1/125s, 18-105mm lens on Nikon D40 (used remote)
My good friend, Laura, and I finally got together this afternoon for a photo walk around town.  We had a blast!  We had no idea what we would photograph in the city, but each ended up taking a ton of photos.

I wanted a photo of us together so we set my camera on a bench outside these church doors and acted like total dorks.  Laura got to play with my remote since it wouldn't work in my hand (weird).  Normally I wouldn't post a photo of myself looking this goofy, but it was a fun day and this photo is a great representation of it.  :)

We're hoping to get out again very soon.  We need more times like this!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 10.23.11

Time for another Scavenger Hunt!

While I don't usually wait until Sunday night to post my photos for the hunt, a busy weekend kept me ... well, busy.  :)  And while I don't make a habit of shooting all my hunt photos on the Sunday they are due, my good friend, Laura, and I went on a fun photo walk this afternoon in our city.  So this week's photos were all taken today.  She even played along this week, so be sure to head over and give her a little comment love!  There might even be a photo of me in there.  Just sayin'.  :)

Anyway, this week's items are: Words, Under, Orange, Fly, and Always Look on the Bright Side.  And here are my interpretations ...

{words}

This garden stone at a church caught my eye.  This song was my Grandma's favorite hymn.

{orange}

These bright orange letters that look like graffiti were pretty cool.  And, no, we didn't go eat there.  :)  They were closed anyway.

{fly}

An eagle statue in a park than contains some war memorials.  Processed with The Pioneer Woman's vintage action.
"... but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."  ~Isaiah 40:31

{always look on the bright side}

In the window of the restaurant where I took the "orange" photo (can you see the reflection?) sat this traffic light.  And an old pay phone.  And a really old gas pump.  They were all very cool.  I need to go back and photograph them.  And possibly eat there too.  :)

Have a great week!
