Pink ... Edited

Hello!  Welcome back!

Time for another installment of Shoot and Edit.  This week's theme is PINK.

If you read my post on Monday, you will know that pink is surprisingly hard to come by in our house.  Even with a 12 year old daughter, she doesn't like pink all that much anymore.  And I've not been a fan since my high school years.  So after much searching, this is what I found ...

Pink SOOC
My SOOC shot.

I played around and came up with 3 different edits this week.  I'm actually pretty happy with how they turned out.

Edit 1:
Pink-Edited1
My first edit was just basic stuff.  Adjusting the white balance, exposure, etc. in Adobe Camera RAW; then I used a high-pass filter with a layer mask because I only wanted to sharpen the iPod, not the entire photo.  Then a slight crop and voila!

Edit 2:
Pink-Edited2web
After making the basic adjustments, I played around some.  This one has Coffee Shop's Velvet Truffle action run on it.

Edit 3:
Pink-Edited3B&W_web
Again, just playing.  I converted the Edit 1 photo to black and white, then used a layer mask to put the color back on the iPod only.  I'm sure there's a technical term for doing that, but I don't know what it is.  :)

So that's it from me!  After really struggling to find something pink to photograph, I am pleasantly surprised with my results.

Head on over to Ashley's to check out more pink edits.

Next week's theme is self-portraits or couples.  I think I might be in trouble.  :)

cool! I really don't know anything about editing photos beyond really really basic stuff. I didn't know what half the stuff you mentioned even was. I guess I need to start learning. :)

I love your shot, and your basic first edit is my favorite - I love how the high pass filter also picked up the texture in the denim, ect.

I love your second edit, but I think the selective color is perfect for this shot.

This is a cute shot! I like the crop a lot, though it is a small change, it has a lot of impact!

I *love* your clean edit. The exposure and color is beautiful.

The selective color (that's the technical term!) edit is really cute and works well for the theme!
