Artscow is a great place you can go to make photo books, order prints, or make personalized gifts. My friend, Laura, told me about them a while ago. Once you register with them (it's free), they will occasionally send you coupon codes for FREE stuff! You only have to pay for shipping.
So about a month ago they sent an email with coupons for eight free 8x8 photo books. You can "redeem" them into your account and then use them when you want. At least until they expire. So I redeemed the code and then did nothing. Until this week. The coupon expires today.
I wanted to do a photo book about the Monarchs we raised this summer. I worked pretty diligently the past few days and finished it up an hour or so ago. Just under the deadline. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. I must work better under pressure. :) Although I'm only getting one free book even though the coupon is good for eight.
I made the book pretty simple because I wanted the butterflies to have the spotlight. Not much embellishing needed with these beauties!
Here it is for your viewing pleasure ...
I can't wait until it gets here! The kids will be so excited to see it!
Now, if I can just get myself to get a few more books done so the next time I get a coupon for free books, I can take full advantage.
{sigh}

I am impressed! I love it!
You should be a homeschool momma!
Hi! You don't know me, but I'm a friend of Laura's (Life Happens). I LOVE your monarch book! I've been raising monarchs every summer since I was in 4th grade; it's such a great project! ...Just wanted to tell you that on one page you mentioned that you thought a butterfly was a female because of its size -- you can tell if it's a male or female by the spots on their lower wings when they spread them. That one actually is a male because it has a small spot on both wings; you'll notice that the females don't have spots. For example, #24 is a male, but #26 and #27 are females.
Just thought you might like to tell your kiddos how to tell; I always thought it was pretty cool! :)
Hope you don't mind I've been checking out your blog!
Take care... ~Lauren :)
Kim - Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Jenn - I appreciate that! But I just don't wanna. :) I don't believe I have the patience for homeschooling.
Lauren - Thanks for the tip! I see the spots you were talking about. That means I was pretty much wrong about the gender of ALL the ones I mentioned. Oops! We had read that the males were larger than the females, which is what we based our guesses on. Now we know. Thanks again!
I LOVE the book! I might have to find some caterpillars next year and try not to kill them! My grandpa had a HUGE butterfly collection. He passed away and someone bought them but it was amazing. I've always had a special place in my heart for butterflies because of Grandpa.
And of course Lauren would know what's going on! She's smart. :)
You're welcome! :)
And thanks for the compliment, Laura! :) ~Lauren
