Book description: “It was about four years ago, the last trip we ever took together – my mother, sister, grandparents, and me. Course, we didn’t know it at the time. You never know something like that, like it’s the last one you’ll ever get, till it’s just a memory, hanging like mist. This is what happened that summer, true as I can tell it. Not a one of us was ever the same.”
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a story told from the eyes of an 8 ½ year old girl who grows up quicker than a little girl should. A story about how a simple road trip would change her life and her family’s lives forever. A story about how the decisions we make affect those around us, especially our family.
Saving Cicadas keeps your attention through to the end. The story is so real and the characters so believable. It takes many turns and keeps you guessing all the way to the end.
This is a great read. I don't want to tell you too much ... don't want to spoil it for you! But suffice it to say ... I highly recommend it!
