What the caterpillar
calls the end of the world
the master
calls a butterfly. (Richard Bach)
We've been waiting 6 1/2 months.
Since September 9, 2012 - the day we brought the caterpillar home.

And the wait was so worth it.

Before you go, make sure you check out the giveaway I'm hosting for a FUN children's book ... Hey God, I've got some guy named Jonah in my stomach and I think I'm going to throw up!

What amazing pictures!! I remember doing this in science last year with our first grades!
Love this! And I bet you enjoyed photographing something other than a monarch!
Wow, Kimberly, how amazing to watch God's creation change from a fat caterpillar to a light butterfly. Love it.
You asked about backlighting my oxeye daisy. I only shoot natural light (because, honestly, I don't know how to use a flash), but can enhance using Capture NX2 (I guess it's like Lightroom). It has a neat feature called color control points and lets me adjust colors, contast, etc. on single points. It's my favorite feature in the program. I use it a lot on baseball photos in order to show eyes beneath baseball caps.
Here's a link to show you how it works: http://www.capturenx.com/en/lessons/color/index.html
This is amazing!! Definitely worth the wait!
This is absolutely fascinating. What a gorgeous butterfly and totally different from the monarchs. Do u live in CA? I did a whole series of pics on IG (kellykardos) about my 1st monarch raising series. Oh it was such an event. I'd live to hear about your monarch experience. iamsasyk@aol.com thanks for popping into my blog.
