Weekly Summary ~ 3/29/15 - 4/4/15

April is here! Woo hoo!  I'm not one to wish for time to go faster.  It goes fast enough as it is.  But I'm so excited that winter is behind us and we can look forward to summer.

At the end of March I completed a full year with Fat Mum Slim's photo a day challenge.  The group on Facebook is HUGE!  15,000+ people are in that group.  Not everyone participates, but still.  I have made some friendships through the group - people from Australia and throughout the US - which is awesome.  But I decided to take a break from that group and participate in a smaller photo-a-day group called 365 Photo.  It has about 650 members so far and is currently closed, but will open up for membership in May, I believe.  So this week is a combination of the old and the new.

{March 29:  Zen}
March 29:  Zen
This was a tough one for me, but I guess I feel most at peace (aka Zen) when I am out enjoying nature.

{March 30:  On my table}
March 30:  On my table
I have a table currently set up in my living room in front of our big picture window that is holding lots of pots full of seedlings. I'm getting a head start on my butterfly garden this year with milkweed, zinnias, coneflowers, Mexican sunflowers, daisies, parsley, and several other things that I can't recall right now. It is exciting seeing things growing!

{March 31:  Two tone}
March 31:  Two tone
This cute little bird was visiting my feeder today. Along with some black birds, nuthatches, black-capped chickadees, robins, doves, and cardinals. In fact, this evening at one point there were six male cardinals having dinner at the same time. It was quite a sight!

{April 1:  Before}
April 1:  Before
It will probably be a while before the "after" is complete.

{April 2:  After}
April 2:  After
After filling out a survey recently, I was rewarded with a FREE 8x10 inch canvas from my favorite canvas maker. It was delivered today. It was hard picking which image to use for it, but since I haven't printed any of my Monarch photos on canvas yet, I decided to use this one. This handsome fellow was one of the last Monarch butterflies that I raised in 2014. I can't wait for butterfly season to start back up!

{April 3:  Arrive}
April 3:  Arrive
While I am still waiting for spring to arrive - at least in the sense that the earth is coming alive again and things are growing - I will appease myself by buying a bouquet of tulips from time to time. Just because I can.

{April 4:  Depart}
April 4:  Depart
A little too slow on the shutter button and all I got was his departure.   :)

A quick rundown of my week:
We missed church on Sunday.  I felt like I had an elephant sitting on my chest and thought for sure that I had bronchitis.  However, Monday morning I got up feeling much better.
Monday evening we did the usual violin lesson.  The boys and I just stayed in the car in Stephanie's driveway.  I didn't have any errands to run and wasn't really feeling up to it anyway.  I had hoped to go walking in her neighborhood but it was raining.
The rest of the week was pretty typical.
Tuesday was spent at home.  I honestly don't remember what I did.  Probably just trying to continue to get over the cold that I had.
Church on Wednesday night.
While we were at church, my friend, Cari, delivered the flowers I bought from her son's fundraiser. Tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths.  The tulips were blooming and now both the others are starting.  I love seeing spring flowers!
Thursday morning Bible study.  Ran some errands.  Should have gone grocery shopping but I ran out of time.
The kids had off on Good Friday - their only day off due to so many snow days.  Alex and I went shopping in the afternoon.  It was crazy busy!  Really made me wish I had gone shopping on Thursday.  :)
We always have a Good Friday healing service at our church so we went to that.  It was a powerful time with a wonderful speaker.
Saturday was spent cleaning. The kids did a great job helping.

That's it in the exciting life of the Vensel family.  Hope I didn't bore you too much.  :)
Have a great week!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 06.29.14

Wow!  The end of June already!  We are mostly all rested up from our vacation and are looking forward to relaxing in July.  Not much planned, which is a nice change.

I want to thank Ashley for an easy list this week.  After last week, it was a much-needed break!

{pink}

Keira on a "bed of roses" ... pink, red, and white.  And, yes, I did go buy roses just so I could make this picture work.  :)  I only used 2 of each color though, so we can enjoy the rest until they die.

{wheels}

I had this idea in my head ... what if we strung glow necklaces through the spokes on our bike wheels and rode them at night?  Fun stuff!

{friends}

I took the boys to a friend's house on Friday so they could swim.  Adam was glad for the company.  He and my boys have been friends for a few years.  I couldn't get them to turn around so I could get their picture together.  In fact, they were hiding from the camera most of the time.  So you get to see the backs of their heads as they swam away from me.  :)

{emotion}

First time in the ocean = happy kids!

{sweet}

I tried a couple berries from our neighbor's mulberry tree.  They weren't as sweet as I expected.

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to visit our host, Ashley, to see more great Scavenger Hunt finds!

Our 24th and 25th Weeks ~ 2014

Didn't get around to posting my weekly summary last week due to being on vacation.  I didn't want to spend much time on the computer.  So this week I will bombard you with two week's worth of photos.  Just warning you.  :)

I'm still participating in Fat Mum Slim's Photo a Day challenge over on Facebook.  A few days are missing because I used archived photos for them.  As much as I try to take new photos for each day, some days it just doesn't happen.  Especially when you are trying to finish everything up and get ready for vacation.

{June 8: T is for ...}

Teenager.  Love her!

{June 11:  The Beginning}
June 11: The Beginning
Here's hoping this is the beginning of something beautiful.

{June 12:  Pastel}
June 12: Pastel
Alex was excited to help me with this prompt.  Especially since it meant he got to eat a rainbow sherbet cone.

{June 13:  Simply}
June 13: Simply
Simply a boy and his snail.  Not an original idea of mine but when we came home from a nature walk with a couple snails, I knew I wanted to give this a try.

{June 14:  Cross}
June 14: Cross
We had to cross under the Chesapeake Bay through a mile-long tunnel in order to get to our vacation destination.  While in there I decided to play around with some long exposures in order to show movement.

{June 15: Lovely}
June 15: Lovely
It was a lovely end to our first full day of vacation.

{June 16:  In the shadows}
June 16: In the shadows
Keira and I got up at 5 a.m. so we could witness a sunrise while vacationing at the beach.  Even though we were both tired that day, we are glad we did.

{June 17: Peaceful}
June 17: Peaceful
This lion looked quite peaceful while sleeping at the zoo.

{June 18: Quirky}
June 18: Quirky
The mirrored hallway at the aquarium made for some quirky photo ops.

{June 19: Habit}
June 19: Habit
I don't make a habit of waking up to watch the sun rise, but after witnessing it twice last week, I might consider it.  Of course, the location might have something to do with it.  :)

{June 20: Yay!}
June 20: Yay!
Yay for taking silhouette photos on the beach!

{June 21: Here I Am}
June 21: Here I Am
After leaving Honey at my in-laws for the week while we were on vacation, she is happy to be home with us.  Following me around and sleeping at my feet.  It is like she's saying, "Here I am and I'm not letting you out of my sight!"

Thanks for stopping by!  I have lots of vacation photos to edit and post.  Hoping to do that later this week.
