Scavenger Hunt Sunday 08.10.14

I realize it is actually Monday (my time) when I am posting this.  Things have been a bit busy around here.  Good, but busy.  I won't bore you with all the details because I will be sharing photos of all the busyness soon, so let's get right to the Scavenger Hunt photos.

{bathroom selfie}

I realize this isn't a "bathroom" selfie.  And technically my daughter took the photo, but this is all I have.  We went to Idlewild on Tuesday and took my husband's waterproof camera along so I didn't have to lug my DSLR.  We had fun taking "ride selfies".  This was taken on the Loggin' Toboggan.  Nick hates this ride so he sat out.  :)

{hop, skip, or jump}

One of my reasons for busyness ... This lovely family got married on Thursday evening at a local lake.  I had the honor of capturing their memories.  We had some fun taking family photos after the ceremony.  The three teens on the left belong to the bride and the two teens on the right belong to the groom.  Now they are one, big, happy family!

I photographed a 50th anniversary party on Friday evening for a wonderful couple.  They are becoming like family to me and I've only been around them twice.  :)  They are just so sweet and kind.  I couldn't resist photographing their cake in the mirror that was on the wall nearby.  The cake topper is the one that was on their original wedding cake 50 years ago.  How cool is that?!

{box or package}

Another from the anniversary party.  The couple's daughter-in-law made up these beautiful favor boxes for everyone to take home.  They were filled with minty chocolate chips and candy-coated almonds.  Mmmmmm.  :)

My best friend sent me an email with this quote in it, so I added it to an out-of-focus photo I took of my one hydrangea bloom.  I plan to print it as an 8x10 (or maybe bigger) and give it to her.  (Sure hope she doesn't see this before I do!)  :)

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 05.25.14

Hello!  Happy Memorial Day weekend!  We are having some gorgeous weather here (finally!) and are probably outside enjoying it right now.  :)  Gotta get some sun on this white skin before we go to the beach next month!  You are here to see my Scavenger Hunt finds, I'm sure, so I'll get right to them ...

{where I stand}
where I stand
Or where I stood, rather.  In this case, on the top of a parking garage.  After Keira's school concert Thursday evening, we noticed how pretty the sky was, so we headed to the closest parking garage, went all the way to the top, risked our lives by standing near the edge (not really, but it felt that way), and took some silhouettes.

Thanks to technology I am able to add quotes to my favorite photos and share them with my friends with just a few clicks.

{something new}
something new
Something new to our neighborhood is this sweet little foal.  He was born on Sunday, May 18, and caused quite a fuss around here.  I guess traffic was stopped - folks trying to get a glimpse at the new baby.  He is pretty cute.  I want one!  But since I have nowhere to keep one, I'll just have to hang out with this guy.  :)

{favorite place}

I took this photo at one of my favorite places to do photo sessions.  In fact, I just had a session there on Saturday morning.  Sneak peeks coming soon!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 05.04.14

Hello!  It is Scavenger Hunt Sunday time!  I missed last week's hunt - just didn't get around to it, I guess - but I'm back this week.  After a mostly-rainy week I'm really hoping for some sunshine today and the rest of this week.  Despite the chilly, rainy weather, I did manage to get outside a few times and enjoy the fact that it isn't freezing anymore.  :)

Anyway, here are my interpretations of this week's prompts ...

{on my feet}
on my feet
On my feet are these cute little sneakers.  Too bad they aren't as comfortable as they are cute.

{shapes}

Nick used some of his birthday money to buy an airsoft gun and some ammo.  Now I am finding all these little round BBs all over the house.

{little things}

I have been participating in Fat Mum Slim's photo a day challenge since the beginning of April.  "Enjoy the little things" was one of the prompts for which I used this photo.  And I get to use it again today.  :)

{good}

So, yeah, two flower pictures with quotes this week.  I have been trying to take photos with more negative space lately because I love a good photo with a quote.  I will probably order an enlargement of this one and hang it in our dining room.  I'm creating a wall of inspirational photos to help encourage my family and me.

{egg}
egg
Obviously this is not an egg, it is a goose.  But he was defending his mate's nest, which was probably full of eggs, from another goose.  They are very territorial, I have read.  I'm hoping to go back in a week or so and see some baby geese.

Linking up with Ashley.  Be sure to go visit her for more great Scavenger Hunt photos!  And have a great week!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 04.13.14

First of all I need to say Happy Birthday to my Nick!  He turned 11 years old at 1:45 a.m. today.

Second, spring is here!  The last few days have been absolutely gorgeous!  We will have a little hiccup on Tuesday if the weather folks are correct (they said that four letter word that we have had enough of!), but we should get right back to warm temps and sunny skies.  The grass is turning green again, flowers are popping up, and folks are just in better moods overall.  I love it!

Anyway, here are my finds for this week's Scavenger Hunt ...

{neglected}
neglected
Honey, our Golden Retriever, would want you to believe she is neglected.  So you would pay more attention to her.  But the truth is - she is spoiled rotten.  :)

{signs of spring}

We are finally seeing signs of spring everywhere!  Yay!

{last thing I bought}
last thing you bought
I bought some tulips from a friend's son for a fundraiser.  They were delivered this week and they are absolutely gorgeous!

{shadow}

Okay, so I didn't take a shadow photo this week.  However, who can pass up a pretty sunset?

{four things}

Last fall I dug up the jungle that once was my flower bed.  Seriously, it was out of control.  However, I couldn't find my spring flowers because, well, they are spring flowers.  So I waited until they popped out of the ground and dug them up this week.  I placed them into these four paint cans that I had purchased many years ago with the intent of doing something crafty with them.  :)

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 01.05.14

The first Scavenger Hunt of the new year!  Yay!
{photographer's choice}

Me on New Year's day (night).

{lunch}

The kids would love it if I would let them eat Rice Krispies treats for lunch.  Alas, I did not, but I had no recent photos of lunch, so this is what you get.  A Rice Krispy treat train that we made one afternoon.  :)

{starts with the letter g}

As luck would have it, we just happened to make a gingerbread house this week.  After Christmas, but still.  My motto this year is "better late than never".  Not sweating the small stuff.  :)

{my town}

Not exactly a town, but this is my neighborhood.  My favorite tree that resides in my neighbor's yard.

{words to live by}

As I stated in my growth post, this is a year of changes.  Hopefully good.  Pushing myself.  Stretching myself.  Remembering this quote.

Thanks for stopping by to see the first hunt of the new year.  Be sure to visit Ashley for more great Scavenger Hunt photos.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 06.09.13

By the time most of you read this we will be on our way to a fun family getaway for a couple days.  A much-needed mini vacation.  WOOT!  Even though school is now out for the summer, I have still been busy preparing for Vacation Bible School and doing photo shoots (yay!).  So a couple days away is just what we need!

I did manage to get all the Scavenger Hunt items for this week.  Even if I did have to take a few Saturday evening.  :)

{dishes}
dishes
At a lunch with some ladies from church recently I was telling them how I check the thrift stores for photo props all the time.  I had mentioned that I would like to be able to buy just one plate instead of a whole set of dishes, but they don't offer them that way.  The following Sunday one of the ladies brought me a couple plates she had.  This is one of those dishes.  Isn't that sweet?!

{favorite color}
favorite color
Purple is my favorite color so I was delighted to find this purplish daisy growing among my flowers.

{sunflare}

I was playing around trying to get some sun flare while Alex happily played in the dirt.  He didn't even know I was taking his picture.

{expression}

A friend of mine gave me this head massager thingy.  It feels really good.  And the kids love it when you use it on them, except Alex and Nick both make this expression every time.  They say it tickles.  But they still don't want you to stop.  :)

{sticky}

Post-it notes - aka sticky notes - are something that get used a lot at our house.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a wonderful week!  Be sure to visit Ashley for more great Scavenger Hunt finds!
