I Clicked it Up a Notch - May's Best Photo/LEM Vibrant Colors

Courtney over at click it up a notch is hosting a photography contest where we are to pick our best photo taken in May.  Wow!  That is harder than you might think!  Not that I'm bragging about all the fabulous photos I have taken :) ... not at all.  But picking just one photo?  Yikes!  So I narrowed it down to five, then chose one of them.  Here's my pick ...

A lovely parrot from the Erie Zoo.  This was actually taken on May 1, go figure.  But I absolutely love everything about it.  And I can't wait to go back to Erie Zoo so I can spend more time in the bird cage!  :)

Cabin Fever in Vermont hosts a monthly photography contest.  This month's theme is birds, so I uploaded the following photo to the Flickr group.

This photo was taken back in December with my Nikon D40 and my 55-200mm zoom lens.  I had placed some seed outside Keira's window to see if I could draw any birds closer and I succeeded.  Nicholas was nice enough to build me a little bird sanctuary ... meaning he leaned a branch against the house :).  So once this little guy got his belly full, he rested a while on the branch.  I was able to get good and close and he wasn't afraid of me at all.  This was actually taken through her window glass.

Anyway, this picture is featured on the contest page as one of the finalists!  How cool is that?!
