Recently my 11-year-old son, Nick, has really taken an interest in photography. Asking me to use my old DSLR. Or point and shoot. Or whatever. I love it!
Last weekend he went with me to the neighbor's farm to photograph the new foal. I wasn't really concerned with getting the photos off of the camera he used because he is still learning and many of his photos tend to be blurry. :) But he kept asking if he had gotten any good ones, so finally the other night (after another photo walk with him), I uploaded his photos. And was pleasantly surprised by a few of them.

This is our dog, Honey. Not too bad. I even see some bokeh there. :)
I love this one from the farm! Perfect timing!
The new baby horse. Isn't he the cutest?!
A one-eared cow named Spunky.
And the one that really blew me away...
The baby horse with his mama. I shared this on Facebook and Nick is excited because 66 people liked it so far. :)
Now I must add that I did some cropping and editing to all of these. But the fact that they were in focus and his timing was so good really impressed me. I see some potential.

We came across this family of Canadian geese during our walk Tuesday evening. He took many, many more photos of the geese that were just not good. But this one wasn't too bad. Not as sharp as I would like it, but still not bad. A storm was brewing so we didn't have much light at this point.
And last is a photo that I took of him while he took the above photo of the geese.
I am looking forward to teaching him about photography during the summer and hope to have more posts featuring photos that he made.
Do you share your love for photography with your kids/spouse/siblings/whomever? I'm thinking this may be a great way to get more photos of Nick, the elusive one. :)
