I'm always looking for good, wholesome family entertainment to watch with my three kids. Over the long weekend, the whole family watched Abel's Field.

The synopsis from the back of the DVD case:
Left motherless by tragedy and abandoned by his father, high school senior
Seth McArdle (Samuel Davis) faces enormous pressure as he strives to support his
little sisters. At school, he endures the daily bullying of the football team.
But fighting back only finds him singled out for punishment and assigned to an
after-school work detail under the supervision of the reserved groundskeeper,
Abel (SOUL SURFER’S Kevin Sorbo). Much to his surprise, Seth discovers that Abel
may be the only one who truly understands his struggles. As dark times lure Seth
toward desperate measures, the reluctant Abel may be the one person who can
point him back toward the light.
Abel's Field is produced by Affirm Films -- the same company that brought you Fireproof, Courageous, Soul Surfer, The Mighty Macs, and more. Having seen all those movies (in fact, we own three of the four mentioned), I felt confident that their latest release would be good. And it was.
This is a great story of a teenage boy who is doing his best with what life has dealt him. He has to deal with some very hard circumstances, especially for a 17-year-old boy. It is a story of redemption. A story that shows you that everyone deserves a second chance.
The movie is rated PG for thematic elements, brief violence, and a smoking image (according to the DVD case).

I just talked to Nick about the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies because he was wearing the shirt. I told him that I really liked the third movie which he hasn't seen yet. It was funny and entertaining as usual. But I really liked how it focused on the relationship between the father and son. I thought it had a lot of very touching moments and I want to watch again someday soon!
I think the most recent one we saw was Journey 2. It was fun and the boys loved it.
I loved Courageous - I'll have to check this out!
Oh gosh... a family movie... hmmm... I like all the ones you mentioned above. We also love the VeggieTales Johan movie. Hmm... might have to get that out today. :)
Recently, our family watched Amish Grace together. While it was hard to watch because of the dramatic experience they went through, it also taught all of us how forgiveness is so very important. However, there are sooooo many movies I could write on here. On a lighter note, we watched Tangled a few weeks ago and I thought it was really cute and funny!
