Farm Show Snapshots

One of our family traditions is to visit our local Farm Show during August.  The kids always enjoy petting the animals and riding some rides.  This year we were able to go on the first night (Monday) since Doug got home from work early enough.  The weather was spectacular (not too hot!) and it was a great evening to go.  Especially since the rest of the week is supposed to be scorching!

We tortured the kids by making them walk through the buildings and tents first where the arts and crafts are.  I entered a few photos in their photo contest so we wanted to see if I won any of the categories.  Turns out I won for these two photos ...

This photo got a blue ribbon in the One Person B&W category.  WOOT!  :)

This photo got a red ribbon in the Insects B&W category.  Ironically the photo that got the blue ribbon was of two Monarch caterpillars.  Go figure!  :)

Anyway, once we were done torturing the kids, we walked through the animal barns and tents so they could see and pet some animals.  Then headed over to the rides.

Alex, of course, had to ride the train ride.  And, of course, refused to look at me.

Nick was nice enough to ride the Bear ride with Alex so I didn't have to.  I makes my stomach queasy with all that spinning.  :)  And to think that once upon a time I used to ride the Ring of Fire!

I was tickled when they all chose to ride the carousel together.  In the same row even.  Although I still couldn't get them to all look at me at the same time.  {sigh}  (Keira is using my old D40 for a photography class she is taking.  I love that she enjoys photography too!  I'll be posting some of her photos soon.)

This is the face I get when I ask him to look at me so I can take his picture.

Alex was the one who rode the most rides, which is why he was photographed the most.  :)

Nick decided to spend five bucks so he could hold a snake, a Burmese Python, whose name I can't recall.  It was actually quite cool.  He can't wait until I print this photo so he can take it to school (when school starts) and show his friends!

The Farm Show is always a good time for all of us.  So glad we went again this year!
