Welcome to the Thursday edited version of Shoot & Edit/Good to Wow with Jill and Ashley. On Monday we linked up our SOOC slides/swings photos with Jill; today we link up our edits with Ashley. I've really enjoyed participating in this challenge to improve my SOOC photos while learning how to improve my editing skills.
This week Ashley teaches us about dodging and burning, which I really wish I knew how to do yesterday while editing a photo from about a year ago that really could use this technique. So, after using the technique on this week's edits, I went back and re-edited that photo. It is still not great because it is when I first starting shooting in manual and not well exposed, but it is improved some. Not worthy of showing here though. :)
Anyway, here are my edits using the dodging and burning technique. After the usual clean edits in ACR, of course. Mouse over to see the SOOC version.

I lightened up Nick's face/chest a little and darkened his legs. I should know better than to take photos in the bright afternoon sun, but that is when my kids like to play on the slip-n-slide or sprinkler. And I prefer not to miss their fun just because it is not ideal photography conditions. :)
I lightened up Alex's face/arms on this one. And cropped a little.
Lightened up Keira's face and darkened her legs. She was blessed with my pale complexion. :)
And again for fun, I lightened/darkened the photo of Honey. I also cropped it some.
So that's it for me this week. Next week's theme is Father's Day in case you'd like to join in on the fun.
Have a blessed weekend!

Lovely edits! I love these water drops captured in the air!
What fun...and the edits are wonderful. Love that the pup got in on the action. :)
Kim! I am blogging again (used to be at Third Time's a Charm) and I am so glad I found you! Your pictures are great :)
Great job! :D I love the last one.
Good job with the dodging and burning! The photo looks much better!
Great edits, love the brightness and clarity. I need to try and shoot in RAW...I am just a little scared:)
