Playing in Manual Mode

The kids and I went to a local park yesterday.  It was really hot out but this particular park is pretty well shaded, so it wasn't too bad.  I played around with manual mode on my camera.  It started out as an accident.  I was playing around the night before and didn't set it back to program mode.  So I started taking pics and realized I was still in manual mode.  I decided to keep it in manual mode since I keep thinking I need to step outside my comfort zone and learn more about my camera.  Here are some of the results ...

This is one of the few parks that still has a see-saw.  My kids loved it!
This is one of the few pictures of Nicholas.  He kept avoiding the camera ... just like his dad does!

Keira was a little big for the springy rides.  :)

Alex wasn't though.  I think Mr. Ducky needs a bath!  :)

How cute is this?!

Just playing around.

We fed the geese some crackers.

I talked Alex into letting me put him up in this tree ... it had the perfect V for sitting in.  He decided to lay down on one of the branches, so I angled the camera to make it look like the tree grew that way.  Make sense?

Keira and Nick on the other side of the pond searching for frogs.  They didn't catch any.  But they saw a few big ones.

Just playing around some more.  There were a lot of dragonflies buzzing around the pond.

I also took 30 pictures of the kids together ... trying to get one where they were all looking at me and smiling.  Didn't happen.  I posted the best one on my Project 365 blog if you want to check it out.  I'm going to have to figure out how to edit them in Photoshop Elements to get a good photograph.  I remember reading about cutting and pasting heads from one photo to another.  Not sure I have the patience or the skill level to do that.  :)

So that was my adventure in manual mode.  I plan to do A LOT more playing over the next few weeks.

Honey, you are quite the photographer. Loved every one of these shots! Your children look like they really enjoy hanging out together. How did you manage that??

Laura - Thanks! I love it!

Kathryn - You are so sweet! They were fighting too ... it just doesn't show up in the pics. :)

Wow! LOVE the photos! The one of your little guy on the seesaw is fabulous! I snagged some of my kids today too. Only we were inside avoiding the heat (and the camera too)
