Week 4 - Couch to 5K

We've entered week 4 of our Couch to 5K running challenge.  Yoy!  Challenge is definitely the right word!  Today's workout was hard!  We are now running much more than we are walking.

My friend, Laura, needed to get there and start without me because she had to be somewhere right after our workout.  So she was with me for about the first half of today's run/walk, and I was solo for the remainder.  Although she did come over and fist bump me when I was done and gasping for air.  Hey, at least I did it!  It may not have been pretty, but I did it!

Just when I started my last 5-minute run, I saw my friend, Kiersten walk in.  I was thinking, "I hope she doesn't come over here to talk to me right now because I can barely breathe let alone talk!"  I told her that afterward and she just laughed.  She said I looked like I was working hard because my face was so red.  (I told you it wasn't pretty!)

Afterward I stretched on the mats with Kiersten and Jenn.  We joked and laughed and had a good time.  The other people in the gym were probably wondering about us!  Having friends there makes exercise sooooo much easier!

I was exhausted when we finally made it home today.  After preschool Alex and I went to the play area at the mall since it was raining.  (Alex had a preschool make-up day today because of the snow.  He got to go to the "big kid" class!)  Several of the Pre-K class moms were there, including Kiersten!  So I hung out with them while Alex played with their kids.  It was really nice.

We came home, watched The Grinch (Alex loves that movie), and took a nap.  I could barely keep my eyes open while the movie was on so I definitely needed a nap!  That running must have worn me out!

Laura and I will run again on Wednesday and Friday.  I can't say I'm looking forward to it!  The running part ... not seeing Laura.    I like Laura.

Looking ahead to next week ... on day 3 of week 5 we'll be running 20 minutes straight!

Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!

And the gym will be closed for Good Friday, which means we'll have to run 2 days in a row!

Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!

But, hey, life is good if my biggest worry is getting through my run.  Now I just need to convince myself of that!

:-)
