Rescheduling my life

Please bear with me while I vent, because I really need to …

Doug works shifts. Because of this I try to schedule things around his work schedule so he can watch Alex (and/or Keira and Nick) and I don’t have to pay a sitter. Hair cuts, doctor appointments, nights out with the girls … those kinds of things.

But it seems like every time I turn around, I need to reschedule because he now has to work a day he was supposed to be off. Or he’s scheduled to go in early for afternoon shift so my morning appointment is now inconvenient. Or he has to work late when he’s on daylight shift so now he won’t be home until 7:30-8:00.

UGH!!!

I hate to complain about his job because it pays really well. It has replaced my income and then some. It has allowed me to stay home and raise our kids instead of trudging off to work every day and letting some day care raise them. (Been there, done that, by the way).

But I’m getting tired of having to reschedule my life!

I have a girlfriend who baby sits for me, but I hate having to pay a sitter when I shouldn’t have to. Plus she can’t always watch him because, well, she has a life also.

I started scheduling things on mornings when Alex will be in Preschool (and Keira and Nick are in school) to help with this problem. But not everything works on those days.

For instance …

My hairdresser works part time. The only morning she is in is on Fridays. So I scheduled a perm for this Friday. I scheduled it like 2 months ago. Doug is scheduled to work afternoon shift which means he isn't supposed to start until 3:00PM. But he just informed me today that he needs to go in at 11:00AM that day. My appointment is for 9:30AM and there is no way I will be done in time.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Now I hope I can reschedule to the following Friday when he is supposed to be off (I just found that out today also). But … I’m tired of having to reschedule my life!!!

I’m not looking for a solution here. I just really needed to vent. And, no, I don't feel any better having done so.

Aww... that's rough. I kind of sort of understand... in the summers I can't plan ANYTHING! I never know when Mike will be home. It sucks. Venting is good.
