Project 52 ~ Weeks 43 & 44

So apparently I forgot to do a post last week.  That's part of the problem with being a bit overwhelmed with stuff to do - I forget things.  Oops!  :)  So I'm combining two weeks into one.  But don't worry, I won't overload you with photos.  Just a couple from each week.

According to Josh's parents, this is how they seem him often.  I was glad to be able to capture his personality during his senior session.  His mom said he went from dreading his session to really enjoying it and looking forward to seeing his photos.  That is a wonderful compliment!

Kourtney also had senior photos done during this week.  I had given her the choice between October 12 and 26 and she chose the 26th.  But when it came time to have her session, it was freezing!  So different from the weather we had on the 12th, when it was shorts and t-shirt weather.  We still enjoyed ourselves though.  We went from the top of a cliff down into a valley with this beautiful waterfall and then into a pitch black train tunnel (you can see a photo of that here).  It was great to explore areas that I hadn't been to before.

I'm still working my way through those senior sessions (and one more!) partly because of this sweet little girl.  She spent a couple days with us while her mom and dad went away.  She reminded me how much work it is to have a toddler in the house!  We had a good time though.  The kids, especially Nick, loved having her here.  He had someone to entertain.  :)  Which is actually what he was doing that you can't see. He was outside the window playing peek-a-boo with her.

Last, the boys carved pumpkins the day after Halloween this year.  Better late than never, right?

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 11.03.13

Welcome to another Scavenger Hunt Sunday!  I made a point to include my kids in my photos this week.  You may notice one more than the others.  Because that one is typically my most cooperative.  Or easily bribed.  You can decide which you think it is.  :)

I helped in Nick's classroom Halloween party this year and didn't get a chance to visit Alex's party.  So I had him step outside when we got home for a photo in his train engineer outfit.  And the vampire teeth he got from one of his classmates.  Which he's been wearing almost non-stop since.  :)

{candy}

Alex agreed to let me take his picture with his candy corn tooth if I let him eat a few pieces.  He went through several pieces before we got this shot.  Somehow he just couldn't keep the "tooth" in position.  :)

Nick and Alex carved their pumpkins on November 1.  The day after Halloween.  Better late than never, right?  Do you notice how messy their arms are?  They had fun!  And there might be some pumpkin goo on my car which was parked right in front of the porch where they carved.

This is about as spooky as we get around here ... Keira with a flashlight in her dark room.

Nick had a blast with his Duck Dynasty beard and our orange Wii guns.

Week 44 in Pictures

Last week was probably the looooooongest week in the history of weeks!  The rain started on Saturday, October 27 and continued until Saturday, November 3.  Eight straight days of cold, miserable, windy rain.  We did get a break every now and then ... and the sun even tried to come out a few times on Friday and Saturday.  But overall, it was a very blah week.  We are blessed in the fact that Hurricane Sandy didn't leave much destruction in her path in our area.  Things were predicted to be much worse than they actually are.  I wish I could say the same for those east of us.  We are keeping those folks in our prayers.

I predicted that I would struggle to pick up my camera during the rainy weather and I did.  Several of these photos are "cheats".  I took all of these photos this week, but some were taken on the same day.  We'll just pretend they are from the day I say they are, okay?  :)

Gross, rainy weather.  I even added a colorful gradient to make my original photo more appealing, but it didn't help much.  :)

The nuttiest Nuthatch that frequents my feeder.  I just love this little guy.  He's so fun to watch.

I decided to play around with some low-key photography since I don't do it often.  I'm not sure I did it right, but I like the way it turned out.

Despite the fact that my kids don't go trick or treating, we still seem to end up with a huge bowl of candy.

Poor Blue Jay.  Soaking wet in all this rain.  I was pretty pumped to have gotten this photo of him though, since he is pretty elusive and usually flies away as soon as he sees me.

Very rare to have another photo of me so soon (just featured one last week).  Especially since I hate self-portraits.  :)
I set out with the intention of getting a much-needed haircut and ended up having my perm straightened.  It had grown out 5-6 inches anyway so it was either get another perm or go straight.  I thought I'd try straight for a while.  The girls at the salon kept asking me if I had colored my hair at all.  Strangely, no, I don't color my hair.  The light and dark streaks are all natural.

Keira got invited to a costume party at a friend's house.  And they ended up going trick or treating.  Fourteen years old and she finally got to go.  :)  Anyway, after much costume searching and deciding, she went as a gypsy.  The clothes were found at Good Will and most of the accessories were borrowed from my MIL.  (And as you can tell, the sun was out for a bit.  But on our way to drop Keira off at the friend's house, it was raining and sunny and we got to see a gorgeous rainbow).

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 11.04.12

Time for another Scavenger Hunt!  I have to admit that several of my photos were not taken this week.  It has rained for seven days straight due to the hurricane.  The sun finally came out today but several times it was still raining when the sun was shining.  The next week looks pretty decent though.  A much needed reprieve from the rain.  Yay!

I went for a much-needed hair cut this week.  While there I decided to have the perm that I had straightened.  It was either get another perm or go straight.  It has been several years since I had straight hair, but it is a welcome change.

Every day is an adventure with my kids.  I asked them to pose for a picture so I could get a reflection photo and this is what they decided to do.

Keira got invited to a Halloween party at a friend's house.  We don't normally do anything for Halloween other than the boys' party at school, but I didn't see the harm in letting Keira go.  She decided to be a gypsy and was quite vibrant in her costume.  She looks fierce in this picture!

I wasn't really sure what to do for this prompt but I thought fall leaves and sun flare were pretty classic.  :)
