You have probably heard of the movie UNSTOPPABLE.  It was only in theatres for two nights back in September and October, but it had a huge turn out.  Now that it is out on DVD, I was given an opportunity to watch it and review it.

About Unstoppable
Inspired by the death of Cameron's close friend who succumbed to cancer at the age of 15, Kirk Cameron takes viewers on an inspiring and hope-filled visual journey to better understand the biggest doubt-raising question in faith: "Where is God in the midst of tragedy and suffering?"

Going back to the beginning--literally--Kirk investigates the origins of good and evil and how they impact our lives ... and our eternities.  UNSTOPPABLE will prompt audiences to consider the role that pain and suffering has in our lives, as they affirm their personal views on faith, and encourage conversation starters about God, suffering, and hope.

In theaters for only two weeknights (Sept 24th and Oct 3rd, 2013), UNSTOPPABLE: A Live Even with Kirk Cameron sold a staggering 260,000 tickets and reached a theatrical gross of over $3.2 million.  In just two nights this independent project sent a loud message - audiences want thought-provoking and meaningful entertainment.

Kirk Cameron is best known for his memorable role as "Mike Seaver," a cultural icon of the 80's, with his mullet hairstyle, cool glasses, and wisecracking comebacks.  More recently he enjoyed much success with the No. 1 grossing inspiration film of 2008, Fireproof, and his recent documentary, Monumental.  Kirk and his wife, Chelsea, were on-screen sweethearts during their Growing Pains years and are the founders of Camp Firefly, where terminally and seriously ill children and their family are provided an all-expense paid retreat (www.CampFirefly.com). Together, Kirk and Chelsea live in California with their six children.

The first thing you need to know about this "movie" is that it isn't a typical movie.  It is more of a documentary.  In fact, on the back of the DVD case, it is listed as a "powerful visual journal".  However, Kirk Cameron's explanation of where God is in the midst of tragedy kept my interest throughout the entire DVD and really made me think.  I found this DVD to be quite enjoyable and plan to watch it again and again.

A couple quotes that really stood out to me ...
God can and will use tragedy for His greater glory and for our good.
God is good.  We can trust Him and his purposes are unstoppable.

We may not understand what God is doing, but we can be sure that He is there.  In the midst of the good and the bad, He will never leave us or forsake us.

If you would like a chance to win your own copy of the UNSTOPPABLE DVD, just leave a comment on this post.  Anonymous comments are permitted but please be sure to leave your name and way to contact you so you can be notified if you win!  The last day to enter is Monday, February 10.  I will randomly choose a winner and announce it on Tuesday, February 11.

I have not watched this movie yet but would love to see it. I like the passion Kirk Cameron has in spreading the gospel and in providing families with great movies to watch that represent the way Christ wants our life to be lived out. The movie Unstoppable is a different platform that his typical movies but regardless brings God's truth to the forefront. Praise God for Kirk's boldness!!!

I haven't seen it. We don't get to movies very often, but now that it's on DVD, maybe we will.
