May not only brings flowers. It also brings Prom season. This year I was asked to photograph a beautiful high school senior and her date on their prom night.
I give you a small sampling of Angela and Austyn ...
They were a delightful couple!
I guess the lion is how Angela asked Austyn to go to the prom with her. Sweet!
Angela is graduating from high school soon and is going to college for business.
She wanted photos of the details - hair, shoes, corsage, and the cool embellishment on her gown.
She wants to form a non-profit business like TOMS. I don't know about you, but I think that is awesome.

Angela and her mom. Angela's mom, Susan, used to teach at my boys' school. She now teaches at another elementary school in our district.
Austyn is in his first year of college and is studying to be a physical therapist.
For some reason, I just love this photo of Angela taking a break in between poses. She looks deep in thought.
Eleven couples met at the local basketball coach's house for photos. The house was HUGE! And beautiful!

It was the craziest thing I have ever experienced! Trying to take photos with each couple's parents/siblings/aunts/uncles/whatever taking pictures also. I was only hired to take pictures of Angela and Austyn, so I couldn't really tell the other people to get out of my way so I could do my job. :) There were a lot of people there to work around!
I figured I was doing pretty well with this group shot if Angela and Austyn looked good and had their eyes open. :) The rest would just have to be.
We were going to go to the Prom Walk - a time when each couple walks on a special walkway (think red carpet) on their way into the prom - but strong winds and thunderstorms moved in while the kids were eating dinner. So Angela's mom called me to tell me not to bother. We figured they would be scurrying into the building under their umbrellas instead of strutting their stuff on the prom walk anyway. And that doesn't make for very nice pictures. :)
This was a great experience and I'm glad to have been asked to be a part of their special day. I'm still going over things in my mind that I would have done differently. But over all I think Angela and her mom will be pleased with what I was able to get for them.
