Some very real and emotional music is what you will find on JJ Heller's new CD, LOVED, released today.
About JJ Heller's LOVED:
When JJ Heller and
her husband/co-writer, Dave, began writing for their sixth studio
album LOVED,
life looked a few shades darker, more painful and confusing than it had during
the work on their work of the recent past. Over the past few years, the duo
steered much of their material toward the whimsical and simple joys of life,
love and new parenthood. But, when confronted by illness, death and broken
marriages within their community, the Hellers chose to stay true to the weight
of their season of life when crafting lyrics this time around.
Not my typical kind of music, honestly it took listening to it a few times but I did eventually enjoy this CD. (I'm more into TobyMac, Third Day, Casting Crowns, Jeremy Camp type of music.) I did grow to especially like a few songs like If You Fall, Who You Are, and the title track, LOVED. One of the things I really liked about her CD was the sound of a cello on several tracks. Since my daughter started playing the violin, I have really come to appreciate the sound of instruments like the cello and violin.
JJ Heller has a beautiful voice and you can hear the emotion of these songs in it. She reminds me a bit of Sarah McLachlan. In both her sound and her lyrics.
